S1 (Altitude) Introduction
Welcome to International altitude competition.  In the FAI class designation system, this is class S1.  The letter following the class tells the total impulse allowed for the event.  S1A (2.5 Ns total) is usually flown by Juniors and S1B (5 Ns total) is usually flown by Seniors at World Cups, Continental Championships and at the World Championships.

Follow this link: S1 – Altitude for the excellent introduction on the NAR website.  this information has been compiled by past US Team members.  It is the best place to start reading and surfing the web for S1 information.
